Request for Proposals
WCRA is using a competitive Request for Proposals (RFP) process to identify a redevelopment plan for single family, senior living or a multi-family project on the property located at 618 Winter Street, Wakefield, NE 68784. WCRA intends for construction to begin of a single family home, senior living units or multi-family structure prior to June 1st, 2021 with completion of the home by February 1st, 2022.
Interested builders may submit a redevelopment plan for the construction of a single family home, senior living or a multi-family unit. Proposals are due on or before 4:00 pm on April 1, 2021. All questions regarding this RFP should be directed to:

The Hatchery – Business Incubator
The Hatchery is a “business incubator” for start-up and expansion of small businesses in Wakefield. The primary benefit of The Hatchery is to provide a low-rent option for entrepreneurs or expansion of an existing small business without the capital outlay for purchasing real estate.
The business incubator space is meant to be used on a short-term basis. It is expected that after two years, the business should be able to determine if the operation is viable and be looking for a permanent location. If the need should arise to stay longer than two years, the business owner would be required to submit a request in writing explaining the need.
Rental rate is based on square footage of the space and length of lease:
First Year: $0.25/square foot
Second Year: $0.30/square foot
If there is need for a third year: $0.35/square foot

The Wakefield Industrial Park, owned by the City of Wakefield, is located along Highway 35 in the southeast quadrant of Wakefield. East 7th Street borders the north side of the Industrial Park and East 10th Street borders the south, giving you two options for traffic to access the property. Cottonwood Street provides easy access to the lots located in Blocks 3 and 4.
The Industrial Park is in the city limits of Wakefield, with the highway frontage zoned for commercial use and the remaining lots zoned for light industrial. The entire Industrial Park is eligible for TIF financing. Utilities are on-site or just adjacent along the north side of East 7th Street.
